Why this film matters

UTILITY makes a social-scoring idea physical: each person’s worth is printed on their body, and the protagonist’s low number decides whether he eats. The story turns on one act—tearing off his number to help an old man—so it depends on a believable character and readable feeling rather than on world-building alone.

It took second place at ITU’s AI for Good Film Festival 2026. ITU and CyberAgent both credit it as a one-person film, made with repeated Seedance 2.0 generations.
