Latent Matinee is an ongoing editorial collection of filmmakers and their work. We follow complete stories, recurring worlds and artists developing a body of work with AI.

What makes the collection

We look for narrative films, sustained creative direction, and ambition beyond an isolated model test. Shorts, features, and series all have a place here. Inclusion is a reason to explore a work, not a star rating or a claim that every film has been independently reviewed.

Clear about what is known

Each film links to its sources and carries a date checked. We distinguish public releases, festival screenings, and forthcoming films. Budgets and production methods reported by a filmmaker or studio are attributed to them. Release dates and availability can change.

Watch at the source

Films are not hosted here. Where a filmmaker has published a film on YouTube or Vimeo, the play button opens their own upload in an embedded player; nothing loads from those services until you press play. Every other watch link takes you to the filmmaker, festival or official distributor. Stills, posters, and video thumbnails are credited to their respective creators or publishers and used to identify the works discussed.

The craft behind the work

Our film pages explain the editorial reason for inclusion and record disclosed models, tools, collaborators and production techniques. Each production note links to its evidence. A platform’s available tools do not establish which tools a particular film used. Named contributors are not automatically a complete crew list.

Verified X profiles provide another route to the people behind the films. A studio or collaborator account is labeled as such. If an artist’s account cannot be verified, we leave it out.

A living journal

New discoveries and meaningful changes appear as dated journal entries. Existing artist and film pages are updated as the work develops.
