Why this work matters
A captain framed for treason finds refuge in a hidden valley. The existence of a calf gives his pursuer a motive to follow him. The sequel moves Darkhan, Aru and the herd onto an old salt route, changing the problem from keeping a hidden place secret to protecting creatures whose tracks can be followed.
