Why this film matters

Little Mes turns a familiar question—who would you have become on another path?—into a visual rule: the alternative selves are present, quiet and peripheral rather than ghosts or flashbacks. The challenge is to show possibility without plot interruption, using a carved, tactile character design and a monologue to hold the film together.

Runway’s 2026 AI Festival gave it a Merit. The release separates writing, art direction, AI execution, editing and sound across named people, which is more specific than most festival AI shorts disclose.
