Why it matters

BIFAN started its AI competition in 2024. The festival places these films in a genre programme with public screenings and gives audiences their own vote. The 2026 programme expanded to include features. BIFAN reports 576 submissions and 15 selected films that year.

Results across the first three editions

Léo Cannone’s Where Do Grandmas Go When They Get Lost? won the first Best AI Film award. In 2025, Takeshi Kushida’s Last Dream took that prize. More Tears Than Harm won the technical award and Total Pixel Space received a jury mention. In 2026, Cornered won Best AI Film. Big Ball, Let There Be Light and Ask Me Anything won the three sponsor-named awards.
