Why this film matters

The fantasy premise is tied to separation and growing up. Its production is also useful because generated work is integrated with live action and virtual production rather than presented as an isolated technical achievement.

Adobe commissioned the film for its MAX showcase. Its published making-of explains specific interventions in character design and compositing.

With permission, childhood photographs of the lead actress informed a younger version of her character. Childlike drawings were painted onto the robot’s 3D surface.
