Why this film matters

Last Call Before A.G.I imagines the end of human primacy not as catastrophe but as a party. Cross-cutting between a near-empty dive bar and a gala in a golden opera house, it uses performance and a found-footage texture to stage resignation and celebration side by side. The filmmaking problem is carrying an argument about obsolescence through two songs and parallel rooms rather than exposition.

AI Film Festival Japan gave it the Outstanding AI Experimental Award, runner-up in its 2025 experimental category, announced on November 2, 2025. That result establishes exhibition and recognition, not a critical verdict.
