Gossip Goblin’s October 11 release stages a discussion of business, jobs and money inside an extravagantly furnished science-fiction interior. An older man in an enormous green chair and a woman with a mechanical body turn an apparently domestic conversation into a question about economic power.
Why this film matters
The setting and the dialogue work against one another: sumptuous, old-fashioned privilege houses a dispute about a technologically altered economy. This is a compact example of speculative world-building serving a social joke, rather than asking the audience to admire machinery alone. The characters’ conversational reactions matter as much as the room’s ornament.
The original titled release and approximately three-minute complete player were checked, including sampled scenes and captions. This is not a full critical review. No relationship to the forthcoming feature Gods Don’t Give Gifts is asserted by the checked release, so it is treated as a separate short.
Watch and disclosures
