Morgue Cat: directing continuity across a shared production

Rommel Villa’s production account explains character references, scene handoffs and shot selection.

Absurd’s Morgue Cat production account follows Jonesy, a space-station cat whose gift to a pathologist becomes a threat. Rommel Villa describes collaborators Robin, Mengqing and Daniella handling different sequences; their surnames, complete credits and total team size are not established here.

Three useful craft disclosures:

  • Identity: project rules preserve which eye has which color; expression references support feline performance.
  • Handoffs: shared character and locked-environment references connect separate scene pages, with feedback attached to selected takes.
  • Continuity: a recovered shot failed to match newer blocking, lighting and color, requiring a rebuilt transition.

The editorial interest is how decisions survive collaboration and iteration. Shared assets alone cannot ensure that adjoining shots make dramatic or spatial sense.

This is a platform-published production account, not independent testing. It does not establish a full public release, runtime, exact models or budget. At the time of this note, no release was verified. Update October 2: Episode 1 is now available from the studio’s October 1 release.
