In the festival’s synopsis, humanity is extinct and evolved dolphins rule the ruins. A lone robot crosses this world to retrieve a capsule containing Perseida’s consciousness. His mission is driven by love rather than survival.

Why this film matters

The genre world gives an intimate desire an expansive stage. Robots, deserts and unfamiliar rulers matter because they stand between a character and the person he wants to recover. That relationship between scale and motive makes the film worth curating as a narrative rather than a visual demonstration.

AAIFF confirms third place in the 2026 thematic competition. The festival supplies an excerpt and the director confirms the short and audience response in his own post-festival account. Neither is presented here as a verified complete public stream. The journal has not reviewed the whole film.

An ending-first production approach

Desumbila tells Qazinform he completed the film in ten days, working alone at home. He first imagined a rainy ending, then built the story backwards from it. This is a useful disclosed writing technique: choose the emotional destination and develop the events that make it meaningful. The account does not identify exact generation models, model versions, budget or a full credit roll.
