Why follow this filmmaker

Qiu Sheng comes to AI filmmaking from conventional features. According to the University of Hong Kong’s programme, he trained in biomedical engineering, his debut Suburban Birds (2018) was selected for Locarno, and his second feature My Father’s Son won Best Artistic Achievement at the Shanghai International Film Festival.

A Dollar Story applies that background to a single, carefully chosen device: one dollar bill carried across a century of screen history. It won Best A.I. Action Film at WAIFF 2026 in Cannes.
